The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists that a section of the Riversdale to Bog Walk roadway, in St. Catherine, will be closed tomorrow, Saturday June 6, 2020.  The closure, which will be in the vicinity of the bridge at Bog Walk, will commence at 9:00 a.m and is scheduled to last until 6:00 p.m. The closure is to facilitate the installation of a drainage pipe across the width of the roadway.   Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw says that the drainage improvement works are part of a wider flood mitigation project valued at over 21 million dollars that is now underway at the location. He says that as part of the project two retaining walls are being constructed at breakaways along the roadway.   The drainage infrastructure and the retaining walls are also being constructed to assist in mitigating possible damage from storm water during rain or flood events. The section of road runs close to one of the tributaries to the Rio Cobre.   During the period of closure, persons travelling from Bog Walk towards Riversdale can use the Linstead Bypass, turn right onto Church Road continue to the Knollis main road and proceed to Riversdale. The opposite obtains for persons travelling from Riverdsale.   The NWA is advising motorists to proceed with caution during the period of closure and to obey the instructions of posted warning signs.
