The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists that effective Monday, June 14, 2010, a section of the St. Christopher to Glengoffe main road, in St. Andrew, will be closed to vehicular traffic. This, as a breakaway which existed in the vicinity of Cavaliers District, has severely worsened, reducing the roadway to less than the required width for single-lane access.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, says the closure of the roadway at Cavaliers, has become a necessary action to protect the safety of motorists who use this roadway. He says the heavy rains which occurred in the latter part of last month (May 2010) have resulted in a further undermining of the roadway.

The alternative route for motorists travelling from St. Christopher and wishing to go to Lawrence Tavern is through Stony Hill, into Temple Hall, Nolan Hill and into Lawrence Tavern. The reverse obtains for motorists travelling from Glengoffe.

The NWA advises motorists to obey posted warning signs indicating alternative routes, while it seeks to have this breakaway repaired.
