Effective Monday, June 15, 2020, a section of the main road from Toll Gate to Rest in Clarendon will be closed to vehicular traffic. The road will be closed in the vicinity of the Spring Plain Rail Crossing. The closure will last for eight days and is to facilitate the rehabilitation of the Spring Plain Rail Crossing. The project is being undertaken by Bauxite company Jamalco and is expected to be executed on twenty four hour shifts.   As part of the project existing rail lines will be removed, a concrete slab foundation will be constructed, and rail line and structural supports will be replaced and brought up to road level. A detour route has also been constructed adjacent to the existing rail crossing and will be used as an alternative to the main road during the course of the project. The project is expected to last until June 22, 2020.   During the closure, motorists are being advised to exercise caution within the construction zone and to obey the instructions of posted warning signs.
