Temporary Closure of a Section of Junction Road in St. Andrew

The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists that a section of the Junction Road, located between Temple Hall and Brandon Hill St. Andrew, in the vicinity of ‘money corner’ has been reduced to single lane use.

One lane of the corridor was yesterday closed following a routine inspection that revealed major failure caused by flood rains associated with Tropical Storm Nicole. The flood rains caused serious erosion to the embankment which collapsed, blocking the drains, resulting in storm water undermining the roadway.

The NWA is in the process of sourcing funds to carry out work in the area but is unable to give a timeline at this time, as to when the permanent works will be undertaken.

The NWA is also advising motorists that there is no alternative route.

Motorists should therefore proceed with extreme caution along this section of the corridor and obey posted warning signs and the instructions of flag persons.
