The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists that effective 5:00 p.m. this Friday, September 21 until 8:00 a.m. on Monday, September 24, 2012 the westbound lane of the Sir Florizel Glasspole Boulevard in the vicinity of the Carib Cement Company, eastern Kingston, will be temporarily closed.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, says this temporary closure, is necessary to facilitate underground drainage improvement as part of rehabilitation works currently underway along a section of this roadway.

Mr. Shaw says that traffic will be diverted onto the eastbound lanes during the period of closure. The works that are now being undertaken along the Sir Florizel Glasspole Boulevard is a collaborative effort between the NWA and the Carib Cement Company and is being done at a cost of $15.6 million. The Carib Cement Company is contributing just over $3 million of this amount. These works form part of a larger programme funded by the Road Maintenance Fund (RMF), to address drainage improvement in the Kingston Metropolitan Region.

The NWA is advising motorists to proceed with caution along this corridor during the period of closure; and to obey posted warning signs and the directions of flag persons.
