Traffic delays expected this weekend in sections of Kingston and St. Andrew

Motorists travelling along Maxfield Avenue in St. Andrew this weekend are to expect some delays as the National Works Agency (NWA) will be undertaking improvement works.

 

Starting at 9:00 am tomorrow the section of the road between the Traffic Signals at Balmoral Avenue/Maxfield Avenue intersection and the Hagley Park Road/Maxfield Avenue intersection will be a work zone. The works were slated to be undertaken last weekend, but was postponed due to logistic problems.

 

Manager, Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw says that  deteriorated sections of the corridor will be removed and repaved over the period. The repaving works are being done as part of the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation’s (MEGJC), Maintenance of Secondary Main Roads 2022 Programme at a value of just under 20 million dollars.

 

Mr. Shaw says that the repaving work is to be completed on Sunday, March 5, 2023. Additional works are slated to follow, including the remarking of the corridor.

 

Motorists are being advised to obey the posted warning signs the instructions of flagpersons who will be on hand to assist with directing traffic to facilitate safe movement.
