Waterloo Bridge Phase 1

The National Works Agency (NWA) has completed and opened to traffic the first two lanes of the Waterloo Bridge in St. Andrew. The opening took place following completion of the first phase of the project. Motorists will be able to use these two lanes along the new bridge, similar to the way they did the section of the roadway along the Waterloo Road Ford, prior to the bridge construction project which began in June.

The NWA had erected Traffic signals at the intersection of Upper Waterloo Road and Church Road prior to the construction of the bridge. These lights have been taken out use and are to be removed.

The new four lane bridge is being constructed at a cost of US$1.9 million and is expected to be completed by December this year. Beginning on Monday, September 21, the NWA will commence the second phase of the project. The works during Phase two include, excavation, steel and concrete works, the additional launching of girders, installation of guard rails and the construction of approach roads.

The Waterloo Bridge is one of eleven bridges being constructed under Phase two of the Government of Jamaica/R.A. Murray Priority Bridge Programme.
