Commencing tomorrow, Friday, August 8, 2025, traffic restrictions will be implemented along Liguanea Avenue and White Hall Avenue in St. Andrew. Both corridors will be reduced to single lane traffic.

Manager, Communication and Customer Services at the National Works Agency (NWA), Stephen Shaw says that both corridors are slated to be improved under separate roadworks projects. The works along Liguanea Avenue is being done under the multibillion-dollar Shared Prosperity through Accelerated Improvement to our Road Network (SPARK) project, while White Hall Avenue is to be rehabilitated through the Maintenance of Secondary Roads Programme.

Mr. Shaw says the work to be done along Liguanea Avenue will involve the construction of sidewalks, laying of a new base and an asphaltic concrete surface. The works are to be done in four phases over a period of 180 days. The first phase will target the section of the road between Hope Road and Liguanea Drive. The second phase will see work on the section from Liguanea Drive to Paddington Terrace. The section from Paddington Terrace to Dewsbury Drive will be done in phase three, while the final phase will see works being done, between Dewsbury Drive and Barbican Road. These works are to be done at a cost of $77 – million.

In the meantime, about 100 metres of White Hall Avenue, between Burke Lane and Twelve Road is to be targeted. The section has been impacted by heavy rainfall, which has caused constant surface erosion. The asphaltic concrete surface is to be replaced with a rigid concrete pavement. The new surface will allow for easier storm water flows and post rainfall maintenance.

Just over Three Million Dollars is to be spent on this project. Mr. Shaw says the restrictions along the corridor will be in effect for a period of three weeks.

Motorists and pedestrians are being urged to exercise caution while using the roads during the period of the works and to obey the instructions of flag-persons and posted warning signs.
