Pavement Repairs Commenced Along Spanish Town Road in Kingston

Motorists are being advised to expect delays along sections of Spanish Town Road in Kingston as pavement repairs gets underway. The works which commenced on Thursday, July 31, will continue for the next three (3) months.


Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the National Works Agency (NWA), Stephen Shaw, says that the works, valued at just under $79 million, is being undertaken in four packages. He says that as part of the works, the old asphalt surface will be removed and replaced with a new asphaltic concrete pavement.


The sections of the roadway that are being targeted are: the eastbound and westbound lanes between Weymouth Drive and the Seaview Gardens traffic lights; eastbound lanes from Seaview Gardens traffic lights to Three Miles; and the section between Albert Street and Maxfield Avenue.


Mr. Shaw says that during the periods of work, the roadway will be reduced in sections according to the progress of the works. He is advising motorists to remain vigilant while using the corridor and to obey the instructions of flag persons and posted warning signs.
