Temporary Closure of Another Section of Liguanea Avenue to Commence Next Week

As the National Works Agency (NWA) continues the rehabilitation of Liguanea Avenue in Kingston, another section of the roadway will be temporarily closed. This closure, which will be between Paddington Terrace and Barbican Road, will commence on Monday, November 17, and be in effect for fourteen (14) days.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the National Works Agency (NWA), Stephen Shaw explains that Liguanea Avenue is one of the roadways that is being rehabilitated as part of the Shared Prosperity Through Accelerated Improvement to Our Road Network (SPARK) Programme. He says that the rehabilitation aims to improve the base and surface of the roadway as well as other road infrastructure. The closures are necessary for minimal disruptions in the work zone and to minimise the impact on traffic in the area.

Mr. Shaw stated that during the period of closure, access to the area under construction will be limited to residents only. As a result, other motorists will have to use alternative routes to access their destinations.

Motorists travelling from the direction of Barbican Road are being advised to use Paddington Terrace to access Liguanea Avenue. Motorists travelling from the direction of Hope Road may also use Paddington Terrace to access their destinations.
