The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising the public that Top Road in Browns Town, St. Ann, which was closed three weeks ago, will remain closed for an additional week. The corridor, which was scheduled to be reopened this weekend, will remain closed due to delays caused by intermittent rainfall over the last two weeks. The new date of reopening is Sunday, February 22.
Works along the roadway included the replacement of National Water Commission (NWC) pipes as well as the installation of 540 square metres of rigid (concrete) pavement. The laying of the concrete pavement has been completed; however it needs time to cure. The additional time is required to facilitate the curing process before allowing vehicular access.
Motorists travelling towards Alexandria will continue to use St. Hilda’s Drive and continue onto York Castle Drive, while motorists travelling towards Browns Town will use either North Street onto Musgrave Street, continuing onto Bottom Road, or Court Street onto Bottom Road. Single lane access will be allowed on Top Road to truckers as the alternative routes cannot accommodate large units.
Motorists are being reminded to exercise caution while the works are ongoing and to obey the instructions of posted warning signs.
