The National Works Agency is announcing that work is now on in earnest, in several communities in East Central and Southern St. James, which were severely impacted by recent flood rains.

Johns Hall, Hurlock, Lottery, Amity Hall and Seven Rivers are among communities which were severely impacted by flood rains. Several roadways were scoured, with many others impacted by washed down silt and debris, as well as landslips. Additionally, several drainage channels were blocked by large, downed trees, silt and debris.

Community Relations Officer at NWA’s Western Region, Janel Ricketts, says that the works will continue over the course of the next two weeks. Ms. Ricketts says the repair effort involves the clearing of landslips and washed down silt and debris, the clearing of drainage channels and the reinstatement of scoured road sections.

Motorists are being advised to obey the posted warning signs and instructions of flag persons.
