The National Works Agency (NWA) is urging motorists to exercise due care as they navigate several critical intersections within the city centre of Montego Bay St. James, as several traffic signals are currently out of commission.
According to the NWA, lightning has damaged critical hardware components of the traffic signals at three intersections in the city centre, redendering them inoperable. The damaged signals are located at the intersections of Creek Street and St. Clavers Avenue; Harbour Street and Meagre Bay Road and Strand Street and Church Street.
Community Relations Officer at the NWA, Janel Ricketts, says that the Agency is in the process of securing the necessary hardware components to effect the necessary repairs and will have the signals repaired in the shortest possible time.
However, Ms. Ricketts says that in the interim motorists should be mindful that when a traffic signal is out of commission, no one has the right way.
