The parish of Hanover is now benefitting from a major investment in its road infrastructure. This, as twenty roadways have been targeted for repair, amounting to approximately $600 million. The projects are being executed through the Shared Prosperity through Accelerated Improvement to our Road Network (SPARK) Programme.
The roadways were chosen following consultation with residents. Many of these roadways have been in a state of disrepair for some time and needed urgent intervention.
Community Relations Officer at the National Works Agency (NWA), Janel Ricketts, says that the projects involve significant drainage improvement, and the reshaping and asphalting of sections of the targeted roadways. Additionally, the installation of new water lines form part of the scope of some projects.
Five projects have been substantially completed. These include the Richmond to Cacoon, Malcolm Heights and Riverside to Rugland roadways in Western Hanover. While in Eastern Hanover, the Hopewell to Chigwell and Claremont roadways are now complete.
Work continues along several other corridors including Askenish to Clifton, One Central to Taylor Drive, and Daffodil Circle.
The projects are to be completed over the next twelve months, with staggered completion dates, based on their commencement dates.
